Moving from Utah to Columbus, Ohio I realized how much I relied on the mountains for navigation. One of my earliest projects after moving was to create a helmet that would display transparent, familiar landmarks in front of my face (in my case the mountains). I wanted to hook this up to a compass so the landmarks would be in the right North/South/East/West orientation.
The original panoramic image was taken from the inside of a compilation CD produced by Flatland Solutions for a project titled Columbus Needs a Mountain. I then added images of the familiar Utah mountains from my life growing up in Utah valley.
